Marching Band- The UPHS Marching Band performs at all home and away football games.  We participate in community events such as Community Day, the Hereford Hike, and the Halloween Parade.  We also perform at one or two competition/showcases during our season.  Each year we choose energetic and fun music to entertain the performers and audiences alike.  Marching Band is open to all students grades 9-12.  

Concert Band-  The concert band meets all year, during the school day and during IE.  We perform two annual concerts- in December and May.  Students interested in concert band usually have played an instrument in middle school, but if you're curious in learning a new instrument, we can always find a lesson time.  

Jazz Band-  The jazz band meets during IE all year and then after school on Mondays in the spring.  We entertain the crowd during Arts Week and perform in the community as much as possible in the spring.  We perform big band, swing, blues, funk, and rock style jazz music.  If you're interested, please see Mrs. Hildebrand.

Club Esperanto is a cultural awareness club. We hold monthly cultural events after school, and also try to get students out in the community to experience new cultures as well.

Here are our goals:

• We embrace the diverse cultures of the world.
• We extend language learning outside the classroom.
• We explore cultural experiences in our community and beyond.

Choir
The choir performs three major sets of music per year for performances both in and outside of school. They perform a large variety of music including classical, gospel, show, pop, contemporary, patriotic, and acapella. The choir also performs a weekly spring concert series throughout the community and travels frequently throughout the United States for performances at special events and music festivals. Students may also audition for district, regional, and state honors through PMEA competitions.

Show Choir
Students perform a wide variety of show, jazz and pop tunes for choreographed performances. Costumes, microphones, and lighting are included in the final creative production. Students perform both at school and at music festivals throughout the United States.

Uptones

Women’s Choir
The Women’s Choir is a highly select group that specializes in acapella singing. They also do a large variety of contemporary music and make numerous appearances at music festivals throughout the United States. The choir is in great demand to perform at many special events and has also made numerous appearances on television.

The Gamer's Club meets to provide students of similar interests time to socialize, strategize and compete in online gaming forums as a team. The club has also provided students the opportunity to develop and organize a framework for participation in the High School Star League, an online gaming community, which can lead to college scholarships for gaming and potential recruitment to colleges for their electronic sports teams. This club provides an avenue for students to complete against other teams and eventually other high school teams across the country. This club opens doors for competition and team membership outside of conventional high school definitions.

Who Are the Lions?

We are members of the world's largest service organization. There are nearly 1,400,000 members in over 44,000 clubs in 200 geographic areas. The Upper Perkiomen Valley Lions Club is comprised of leading citizens totaling more the 45 men and women. From the start, the emphasis has been on service in all forms to less fortunate members of the community.

New members must complete an application (available outside Room 414) and return it to Mrs. Hawthorne or Ms. Rushatz with 10$ before Oct. 4. Old members must submit applications and dues by then as well.

This club is for rising 11th and 12th graders looking to be leaders for groups of freshmen.

This club runs Thursdays after school from 2:30-3:30 in the Middle School Library.  High school students act as positive role models for middle school students by helping them with their studies, offering organizational & time management tips, and answering any questions they may have about the high school.

The National Honor Society directed under the guidance of Ms. Colby Phillips. This fine group of students is dedicated to helping the school and community while maintaining a 3.5 grade point average. They have been the driving force behind the Open Line Food Drive and January's Clothing Drive. They have several fund raisers such as fall mum sales to support their community activities. They adopt a family during the holidays to brighten their spirits. They are responsible for the message board outside the high school to inform the community of upcoming events and activities. They meet once a month to coordinate their various activities that includes each member performing twenty hours of community service. NHS students are nominated by the faculty at the end of their sophomore or junior year based upon their service, leadership and character. They are then inducted into the society in early June. 

To join NHS, students are selected based on their GPA. After a rigorous application process, selected students are able to join this honors society.

Perk Pals was first created by the Low Incidence and Math teachers to facilitate increased opportunities for the students to engage in socialization and inclusion in activities around school.

We encourage understanding and acceptance of the unique qualities of students in the low incidence population. The hope is that acceptance is generalized outside of group activities.

The  hope/wish is for friendships to develop and grow between the low incidence students and student in the general population. As student leaders in the group emerge, they are encouraged to create additional activities and opportunities for inclusion.

The group meets 2x per cycle as an I/E class. As relationships develop, opportunities for students to participate together in additional activities and community based activities outside of the class environment, are presented.

Reading Olympics is a club for people who love to read. As a team they read 45 books a year representing all genres. In Spring, students compete with schools all over the county to answer questions based on the books. Although winning ribbons is great, the most fun happens in meetings as students meet every other Tuesday after school to discuss books and engage in book related games and activities.

Stage Manager: Dr. Mark Thomas

Stage Crew is a select group of individuals who help manage and run events in the Auditorium. We meet every day 3 X-Period. There are multiple "stations" in Stage Crew. There is Lights, Sound, Spot lights, Backstage Work, and Backstage Manager. Lights and Sound work in the booth, spots work in the auditorium, and the rest work on the stage.

Throughout the year, there are many big events that Stage Crew members should work. These events include:

• The play/musical
• Choir Concerts
• Orchestra Concerts
• Class meetings
• Dance recitals
• Mr. Upper Perk

While every Stage Crew member is expected to work as many events as possible, these are the "bigger events" that take place each year.

Rules and Regulations

1. Every Stage Crew member MUST come to the meetings. If you miss three meetings in a row, without talking to Dr. Thomas, then you will be ejected from Stage Crew
2. Every Stage Crew member MUST try to make it to at least some of the events throughout the year. Stage Crew is NOT just a way to get out of X-period.
3. Every Stage Crew member MUST participate when he or she comes to an event.

The Sports Medicine club at Upper Perkiomen High School is meant for anyone who is interested in combining athletics and health care. Students will learn from certified athletic trainers about the daily activities that help keep our athletes in top shape! From injury recognition and diagnosis to rehabilitation exercise programs and return to play, this club is perfect for aspiring athletic trainers, physical therapists, and more.

The Upper Perkiomen High School's Student Council is composed of student council members, officials, and an advisor. A cabinet consisting of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and student advisor are elected at the end of every school year to serve their term for the following year. The selection of the council members occurs at the beginning of the school year as students who wish to join fill out a petition and obtain their fellow classmates' signatures. It is open to any student that wants to seize the opportunity to have their voice heard on how the school functions. Student Council has no limit on the number of students they will accept. The members decide what activities will be sponsored by the Council, plan them, and then advertise and promote them. The student council generally meets on Wednesdays after school.

Student Council is responsible for many different activities for the student's enjoyment throughout the year. The activities include: Spirit Week, Homecoming Dance, talent shows, Halloween costume contest, parades, etc.

We welcome new ideas and members. To become a member: pick up a membership petition form in the office or outside Mrs. Lychock's art room. Membership is only open in the beginning of the school year. Be sure to check the deadline!

The Technology Student Association is an international organization dedicated to the integration and use of technological systems and methods in today's society. Both HS and MS students have the opportunity to compete with other students at the Regional, State and National levels in over 30 different event areas ranging from Parliamentary Procedure and Spontaneous Speaking to Engineering and Architecture. The TSA motto is "Learning to Live in a Technical World".

Writer's Club is a group of students 9th through 12th grade who love to write. They meet after school for one hour every other Tuesday to support each other in the process of developing their work and preparing for publication. They can choose to share their work and participate in the critique process. Two large annual initiatives give students the chance to share their work with others: Poetry Cafe and the UPHS Literary Magazine.
